Chairman, Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and President, De Nederlandsche Bank
Dr. A.H.E.M. Wellink has been President of De Nederlandsche Bank since 1 July 1997. Since January 1999, Mr Wellink has sat on the Governing Council of the European Central Bank. He also chairs the Basel Committee for Banking Supervision. Since 1997, Dr. Wellink has sat on the Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlement, which he chaired from 2002 until 2006. Mr Wellink is a member of the Group of Ten Governors, the committee of central bank governors of the G10 countries, and a Governor of the International Monetary Fund and member of the Financial Stability Board.
